Last week, our team travelled to the stunning Hunter Valley for the 2025 Petstock Conference - a powerful gathering of passionate suppliers, store teams and partners all working toward a more sustainable future in the pet industry.

This year, we were honoured to be named as a finalist for the Petstock Group Sustainability & Impact Award. While we didn’t take home the trophy, simply being recognised as a leader in sustainability was a milestone moment for Oreco Group. It was a reminder of how far we’ve come and a spark for how far we intend to go.

Turning Waste Into Worth

Across our operations, we are working to redefine what “waste” means in Australia. In the past 12 months alone, Oreco Group has repurposed over 1,300 tonnes of waste timber materials to create natural pine shavings and pine-based cat litter.

Instead of being burned or left to break down in landfill, this material has been transformed into essential pet products - products that are now helping to reduce emissions in homes and gardens across the country.

Based on carbon-saving equivalent calculations that compare these emissions to everyday impacts, those 1,300 tonnes represent the environmental benefit of removing approximately 500 cars from the road for an entire year!

Every product our customers choose contributes to this impact.

Every bale.

Every bag.

Every store shelf we fill.

Together, we are shifting the industry toward circularity.

More Than a Nomination

Being recognised by Petstock for sustainability and innovation is not just a moment of pride for us, it’s validation of our mission. We are investing heavily in clean manufacturing, renewable material recovery and smarter product design so we can play our part in Australia’s transition to a low-carbon future.

And this is just the beginning. From pine shavings to our expanding range of natural cat litters - and soon, new initiatives already in development - we are committed to growing our positive footprint year after year.

Thank You, Petstock!

To the Petstock team: thank you for championing sustainability and believing in the work we do. Your support empowers innovation, encourages responsibility and helps ensure that pets - and the planet - can thrive together.

We left Hunter Valley inspired, energised and more determined than ever.

Here’s to continued progress.

Here’s to stronger partnerships.

Here’s to sustainable futures - one product at a time.
