Reflecting on Growth and New Ventures in 2024

Since our last update in 2021, our company has undergone remarkable growth, particularly during the challenging COVID period. We’ve expanded our manufacturing capacity and diversified our focus into three core areas: Garden Products, Animal Feed for the equine industry, and Animal Bedding for the pet industry.

2024 has been a pivotal year for us. By streamlining our product range, we’ve not only improved supply consistency but also introduced new products that complement and strengthen our existing offerings. One of our most exciting ventures has been entering the pet market, where we’re now producing pine pellets and a variety of shaved bedding options—further cementing our position as leaders in innovation and quality.

Working closely with Bunnings Warehouse to expand our product range, earlier this year we had a second drop of our 3kg Sugar Cane mulch bale, aimed at metro areas with smaller living spaces. This mulch is perfect for balcony and courtyard gardeners maintaining small garden beds and pots to grow herbs, veg and fruit trees. It’s also lightweight, making it easy for customers of all ages to use.

This year also saw the introduction of Microchip Mulch, a blend of Cypress pine that offers great value. By mixing thick pine shavings with regular mulch chips, we can fit more product into each bale, giving customers more mulch for their money. Microchip Mulch is available in black, terracotta, and red, and has been very popular.

Next, we developed and released Ezy-Cut Sugar Cane Mulch, a premium mulch that covers up to 30 square meters. We’ve screened out the smaller fibers, leaving only longer ones for better coverage and value. The bale itself can be cut into thirds, making it easier to handle and perfect for smaller tasks or larger gardening projects. This feature again, helps with utilisation of the product and is great for customers of all ages.

Did we mention that the crowd favourite - our 26m2 Sweet Garden Sugar Cane mulch, also received a makeover?

One of the other exciting things we've been working on is the reintroduction of Sugar Cane Mulch to Western Australia! Oreco supplied Sugar Cane mulch to Bunnings in Western Australia over 10 years ago and we have ensured this product is one of our most technically advanced yet.

The cane is triple screened to remove as many fines as possible, it undergoes a heat treatment process to further reduce the risk of seed germination and the best part - it has the best coverage of any other mulch product currently available in the Western Australian market!

At the end of 2023, Oreco also partnered with PetStock and has since been expanding our presence in the pet market. We started with pine shaving animal bedding, followed by our EcoCat pine pellet cat litter and the inclusion of our equine feed range. In 2024, we’re adding Small Animal Pine Shavings, Hemp Bedding, and Poultry Bedding to offer customers even better value for their money!

We have expanded our marketing reach with participation in large scale events such as Beef2024 in May this year where we focused on our in-field baling opportunities while also supplying over 4000m3 of pine shavings for the week long event!

Oreco Group are also attending the Petstock Conference being held in the Hunter Valley in October this year.

Stay tuned for the latest updates and innovations from Oreco Group! The company is constantly evolving and expanding, with a wide range of exciting additions and new opportunities on the horizon.
