How Far Will 50L of Potting Mix Go?

Choosing a premium potting mix ensures your plants get the best start with added nutrients, better water retention, and improved drainage. Here’s how far one 50L bag will go for different gardening applications.

For Pots & Containers

The number of pots you can fill depends on their size:

  • Small pots (150mm diameter) → Fill approx. 10–12 pots

  • Medium pots (200mm diameter) → Fill approx. 5–6 pots

  • Large pots (300mm diameter) → Fill approx. 3–4 pots

  • Extra-large pots (400mm+ diameter) → Fill approx. 1–2 pots

For Garden Beds & Raised Beds

A 50L bag of premium potting mix will cover:

  • Garden beds at 10cm (depth) → Covers 0.5m²

  • Garden beds at 5cm (depth) → Covers 1m²
